These are the applicable Terms and Conditions for renting vehicles at the rental company Sal Village.
All customers agree on these Terms and Conditions before renting a vehicle.
The company has the right to change these Terms and Conditions without prior notice to the customer before, during or after the renting period.

Pick-up and Return Times
As a customer of Rental Company, you can pick up your rented electric chopper or fatbike between 09:00 and 10:00 in the morning.
The return time is between 16:00 and 17:00 in the afternoon for a full day rental.
As a customer of Rental Company for a half day, you can pick up your rented electric chopper or fatbike between 09:00 and 10:00 in the morning.
The return time is between 12:00 and 13:00 in the afternoon. Or you can pick up your rented electric chopper or fatbike between 12:00 and 13:00 in the afternoon.
The return time is between 16:00 and 17:00 in the afternoon.
Please ensure that you adhere to these designated times. In the event of a late return, a charge of €1 per minute will apply.
Rental Fee
The rental fee for our electric choppers and fatbikes is €70 for the entire day (€40 for half day), allowing you to enjoy our vehicles from 09:00 to 17:00.
Availability and Reservations
Customers can make reservations through our website (online booking), using WhatsApp or in-person at our rental location.
The availability of vehicles may vary based on demand. We recommend booking in advance to secure your preferred date and time.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations made at least 48 hours before the reservation date will not incur any charges.
Cancellations made within 48 hours of the reservation date may be subject to a cancellation fee.
Age and License Requirements
The minimum age requirement for renters/drivers is 18 years old.
A valid driver’s license from the renter’s home country is required operating our vehicles.
The drivers license needs to be shown upon arrival prior to the renting period.
If the license can’t be shown Sal Village Rental may cancel the reservation without reimbursing any (cancellation) fees.
For foreign visitors, an international driver’s permit is also mandatory.
Payment Terms
We accept credit/debit cards (Visa, MasterCard) by online bookings through our website.
A deposit of €200 is required at the time of pick-up. The deposit needs to be cash.
The deposit will be refunded upon the vehicle’s return in good condition.
Insurance Coverage
Our rental fee includes basic insurance coverage for the rented vehicle.
Additional insurance options, such as collision damage waiver (CDW), are available to customers at an extra cost.
Deductible Waiver
We offer a deductible waiver option to our customers and is only possible prior to the rental time.
This waiver applies only in the event of a traffic accident where a police report is available. You inform Sal Village Rental immediately (whitin two hours) in case of an accident.
Also photos and technical assesment are need to understand the nature of the cause.
In such cases, you will not be responsible for paying the deductible.
Note: in case of all other damages, such as theft, unilateral (involving the driver of the vehicle without the intervention of any other party) or intentional damage, the waiver will not be applicable, and you will be responsible for the deductible.
Allowed Driving Areas
For safety reasons and to ensure the longevity of our electric choppers and fatbikes, we restrict their usage to hard paved roads only.
Please refrain from driving these vehicles on sand, beach, or water.
When you drive outside the paved roads (e.g. on the beach) this means the deposit is not returned. No exceptions are made.
Sal Village Rental has routes available to drive and see the best the island of Sal in Cape Verde has to offer.
Vehicle Condition and Usage
We provide our vehicles to customers in good working condition and with a full battery charge.
Before accepting the vehicle for rental, the renter is responsible for inspecting the vehicle and reporting any existing damages to Sal Village Rental.
Traffic laws
For the safety of everyone on the road, it is essential to adhere to the speed limits.
When driving in local areas or villages, please respect the posted speed limits.
Outside of built-up areas, please drive responsibly and ensure that you do not exceed the maximum speed limit.
Speed Limits
The speed limits in Cape Verde are usually posted on road signs.
The general speed limit in built-up areas is 40 km/h, and outside built-up areas, it is 80 km/h.
Helmet Use
When riding motorcycles, mopeds, or bicycles, helmets are required for all drivers.
Driving License
To operate a vehicle in Cape Verde, you must have a valid driver’s license from your home country or obtain an international driver’s permit.
Therefore, you need to bring your drivers license with you.
Right-hand Traffic
Cape Verde follows a right-hand traffic system, where vehicles drive on the right side of the road.
Drinking and Driving
Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited.
Cell Phone Use
Driving while using hand-held mobile phones is prohibited.
Incident Reporting
In case of an accident or incident, the renter must immediately contact Sal Village Rental using the provided emergency contact information.
The renter should also report the incident to the local authorities and obtain a police report.
Customer Responsibilities
The renter maintains proper tire pressure and ensure the vehicle is returned in the same condition as when rented.
The renter must obey all local traffic laws and regulations.
Language of Agreement
This agreement is written in English.
Assistance in Dutch, German and Portuguese is available for non-native speakers upon request.
Privacy Policy
We are at Sal Village Rental committed to protecting the privacy of our customers.
We collect and use customer information solely for the purpose of processing reservations and providing rental services.

Driver Liability
While we want you to enjoy your rental experience, it is crucial to drive responsibly.
Any damages intentionally caused by the driver will be the responsibility of the driver.
We do not redeem damages at any time, including theft, unilateral, immaterial, or intentional damage.
We retain the deposit and refund all other costs above within one day.
Sal Village Rental is not responsible for immaterial, personal or unilateral damages or incidents during the rental period.
Sal Village never reimburses the immaterial damages or personal damages.
Late Return Policy
We understand that plans may change unexpectedly, but we request that you return the rented vehicle on time.
While there is no official late return policy, we reserve the right to charge €1 per minute for late returns.
Law and regulations
The Cape Verdian Law is applicable.
By reserving a rental vehicle from Rental Company, you agree to adhere to the above terms and conditions.
